Second period dominance gives Adanacs win over 'Bellies
The first place Coquitlam Adanacs faced off with the tied for second place New Westminster Salmonbellies on Tuesday night at Queens Park which was surely going to be an entertaining game.
Adanacs’ TylerPace got the game’s first goal just over 4 minutes into the first period to give the Adanacs a 1-0 lead, but the lead didn’t hold up very long when MitchellFlintoff scored just over a minute later to even the score.
The Salmonbellies took the lead with 12:09 remaining when AdamDickson scored, but 2 minutes later, the Adanacs tied it up as the first period ended at 2-2 with both teams throwing 20 shots each on goal.
The second period was a period to be forgotten for the ‘Bellies as the Adanacs completely controlled the game. JordanMagnuson broke the tie close to 2 minutes into the period, but similar to how the first period went, the ‘Bellies tied the game up again when Dickson scored his second of the game with 12:27 to go in the second period.
The Adanacs went on a roll from here on out. It all started with a power play goal from DennonArmstrong, followed by a goal from ColinMunro and another goal from Armstrong, all 3 goals within 2 minutes.
Both teams exchanged a goal each in the final minute of the period, but when the ‘Bellies were thinking they were heading into the lockers room down by only 3, that changed when Munro scored with 1 second left on the clock, making it a little more difficult for the ‘Bellies to come back in the third period.
The third period started off with a bang. Magnuson scored for the Adanacs 7 seconds into the period to make it a 9-4 game, but the ‘Bellies got the goal back when JohnnyPearson scored shortly after.
Both teams exchanged a goal each before the halfway mark of the third period and that would wrap up the game as the Adanacs go on to extend their win streak to 15, winning 10-6.
