Pat Coyle Named Adanacs New Head Coach

Press Release from the Board of the Coquitlam Junior Adanacs Lacrosse Club

The Coquitlam Junior Adanacs are pleased to announce that Pat Coyle will be the new Head Coach of the Junior "A" Adanacs starting in the 2015 Season. “We are extremely excited and privileged to have Pat come on as the Head Coach of our Junior "A" Team. Pat played the game right and we feel he treats coaching in the same fashion. His quiet and demanding approach is exactly what we were looking for to help take the team to our ultimate goal. Pat’s vision and attention to detail will guide our Junior "A" team to continued success. He is highly respected throughout lacrosse and our community” said General Manager Scott Wortley. Most recently as the Head Coach of the Coquitlam Midget A1 Provincial Champions and current Coach of the NLL’s Colorado Mammoth, Mr. Coyle has demonstrated that he is not only a Champion as a player, he is quickly showing that success as a coach.

Pat Coyle is originally from Orangeville ON and played all of his Junior Lacrosse back in Ontario. He started his Senior Box Lacrosse career in Brampton, Ontario. After moving to the West coast in the early 1990’s from Orangeville, Mr. Coyle rooted himself in the Coquitlam Lacrosse Community where he has been a great mentor, leader and teammate. In his playing days for the Coquitlam Sr. Adanacs (1994–2009) Mr. Coyle was the cornerstone of the franchise and the team was built around him and his style of play. As the Captain of the 2001 Coquitlam Sr Adanacs, Mr. Coyle was instrumental in bringing home Coquitlam’s one and only Mann Cup.

Mr. Coyle’s playing resume is long and runs deep throughout Canada and the United States. He is a former National Lacrosse League (NLL) Defender of the Year and First Team All-star. Mr. Coyle was part of five NLL Championship teams, 4 with the Toronto Rock (1999,2000,2002,2003) and one with the Colorado Mammoth (2006). “This undeniable experience will be sure to help lead the A’s into the future with much promise.” said Coquitlam GM Scott Wortley.

In 2014, Mr. Coyle was inducted into the NLL Hall of Fame. He is the first defenseman in league history to win this induction. Mr. Coyle helped define the role of Defender in the current offence / defense systems of today’s game. Mr. Coyle was known as an extremely tough guy to play against and his quiet, demanding nature has continued through to his coaching and mentoring of young athletes. “We are very confident that this announcement confirms our commitment to continued success and winning results” said President James Abbott.
