Adanacs Take Care of Business in Delta; Win 26-6

Even though the Adanacs have 1 st place locked and loaded for quite some time now, there was no letting off the gas pedal, especially when it came to teams fighting for better positioning in the standings. After trouncing the Salmonbellies on Friday, the Adanacs looked to end their regular season on a high note against the Delta Islanders, who were looking for a win to get home advantage in the semi-finals.

Aside from locking down home advantage in the playoffs, there didn’t seem to be too much pressure on the Islanders as they had a playoff spot locked down, but with the outcome of the first period, it might be fair to say that the Islanders just wanted to play it safe and make sure everyone would be injury-free for the playoffs.

It was a rather quiet first half of the first period, but then we saw goals in batches. The Adanacs opened up the scoring when TylerPace scored with 9:52 remaining, followed by a goal from Jean - LucChetner 13 seconds later to make it 2-0.

The Adanacs continued to put the ball in the back of the net, as ChrisCloutier netted 2 goals and BradleyBreadon scored 1 to make it 5-0. The Islanders eventually got on the board with a goal from JordanGilles , but that didn’t generate any momentum for them, as the Adanacs came right back around and popped two more to end the first period 7-1.

The second period saw a flurry of goals and even I wasn’t sure if I have ever witnessed anything like this. Before the midway point of the game, the Adanacs added another 4 to the scoreboard to make it 11-1. Frustrations boiled over for Islanders’ ShawnRichardson , who received a 10-minute unsportsmanlike misconduct.

The Adanacs felt no mercy as the game went on. They went on a scoring spree, putting another 6 on the board with still 5 minutes left in the second period.  Islanders goaltender MattKeith wasn’t too happy with the last goal, as he received a minor unsportsmanlike penalty. Unfortunately for Keith, his night didn’t get any better. After Pace and Chetner each scored a goal, Keith received another penalty, this time for roughing. Chetner went on to score another one before the period ended and the score was 20-3.

With both teams exchanging a goal a piece early in the third period, it looked like Richardson and Adanacs’ KaiMcdonald wanted to end their night a little early, as they dropped the gloves, which resulted in game misconducts.

The Islanders managed to score 2 more goals before the game ended, while the Adanacs popped in 5 more, giving them a sizeable victory, 26-6.

THREE STARS OF THE GAME

1. Coquitlam - Jean - LucChetner - 5 Goals, 4 Assists

2. Coquitlam - ColeShafer - 5 Goals, 3 Assists

3. Coquitlam - ChrisCloutier - 6 Goals, 3 Assists

The Coquitlam Adanacs are a scary team and in a matchup that we usually see in the finals, the Salmonbellies will have their hands more than full when they take on the Adanacs in the semi-finals next week. As for the Islanders, they will take on the Victoria Shamrocks in their semi-final of the 2015 BCJALL Playoffs.
