Adanacs sweep Saints; advance to finals

Game 4 took place at the Poco Rec Centre on Tuesday night, where the Adanacs looked to end the series and advance to the finals.

The first period saw a lot of shots from both teams and great goaltending on both ends. The first goal of the game didn’t come until 5:25 left on the clock when TylerPace scored to give the Adanacs a 1-0 lead.

MickeyFitzpatrick tied the game up with 1:43 to go in the first period, but JohnHofseth gave the Adanacs a 2-1 lead with 36 seconds remaining.

The second period saw a bit more action than the first period. ConnorFrost tied the game up 2:10 into the period, but 50 seconds later, ReidBowering scored to give the Adanacs the lead again.

The Saints continued to battle with the Adanacs as they tied the game up again when RylandRees scored shorthanded with 12:40 left on the clock.

Unfortunately for the Saints, it went all downhill from here. Pace scored on the power play a minute after the Saints tied it up and then Pace scored shorthanded almost two minutes later to give the Adanacs a 5-3 lead.

With 5:50 left in the second period, DennonArmstrong made it a 3-goal game, followed by a BrettKujala goal with 3:49 left to make it a 7-3 game heading into the final period.

The Adanacs still controlled the third period as the Saints could only muster 9 shots on goal to the Adanacs’ 14. DereckDowns scored 49 seconds into the third period to make it 8-3, which then turned into 9-3 when Downs scored again 3 minutes later.

The last goal of the period came from Pace with 10:14 left as the Adanacs defeat the Saints 10-3 and sweep them 4-0.

The Adanacs will now wait to see who wins between the Delta Islanders and New Westminster Salmonbellies. With the Islanders taking game 4, 12-6, they hold a 3-1 series lead against the ‘Bellies, so while anything can still happen, it looks like we will be seeing last year’s rematch.
