Adanacs improve to 7-0 with win over Lakers

After a loss to the Port Coquitlam Saints on Friday night, the Burnaby Lakers had to take on another Coquitlam team, the Coquitlam Adanacs on Saturday night at the Bill Copeland Arena.

The Adanacs opened the scoring when NicholasMcnabb scored on the powerplay to make it 1-0. However, that lead did not last long at all, as DannySpagnuolo scored for the Lakers  a minute later.

The Adanacs and Lakers exchanged goals the next five minutes, making it a 3-3 game. 

The Lakers took their first lead of the game when Chase Pretti-Pearsall scored at the halfway mark of the first period, but the Adanacs evened it up two minutes later and continued to pressure the Lakers as BrettKujala and AngeloPontellini each scored to give the Adanacs a 6-4 lead heading into the second period.

The Lakers cut the Adanacs lead to one when Spagnuolo scored his third goal of the game, just under four minutes into the second period. Adanacs’ ThomasSemple made it 7-5 Adanacs over a minute later.

Unfortunately for the Lakers, they got into some penalty trouble and the Adanacs made them pay for it. Kujala and JohnnyKraakman each scored on the powerplay to give the Adanacs a 9-5 lead.

Down by 4, the Lakers were not going to give up. Goals from MasonPomeroy and AidanMilburn cut the Adanacs lead to 2, but the Adanacs regained their four-goal lead when Kraakman and DennonArmstrong scored before the end of the second period to make it 11-7.

The third period was a lot quieter than the first and second period. Semple made it 12-7 for the Adanacs just over a minute into the third period, which basically sealed the deal.

The Lakers were able to add two more goals, but the Adanacs were able to hold them off and win 13-9.

The Lakers will now travel to Victoria to take on the Shamrocks on Saturday evening and the Adanacs will have a shorter break as they will host the Langley Thunder on Wednesday night.
